Buying from a new trade partner always carries risk: will the goods match the specification, and will the quantity be right? Two simple tools take most of that risk away — a smaller first shipment, and an independent inspector of your choice at loading.
Why start with a trial order?
A trial order is a smaller first shipment that lets you test a new source before committing to full volumes. You see the real product, the packaging and the documents, and how the whole process runs — from contract to delivery — with limited exposure.
For us, it is the start of a relationship. A successful first shipment is the best basis for larger, repeat business.
What independent inspection covers
At your request, an independent inspection company of your choice — such as SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek — checks the goods at loading. The inspector confirms that quality and quantity match the agreed specification and issues a report before the cargo leaves.
How it works with Mercathen
- 1Agree the specification and trial volume. We confirm the product details, destination and terms with you.
- 2Choose your inspector. Tell us which company you want; the inspection is arranged for loading.
- 3Loading and report. The goods are checked and the report is shared with you.
- 4Scale up with confidence. Once the first shipment is right, we move to regular volumes.
Delivery terms and payment structure are agreed deal by deal, so the trial can be set up in the way that fits your business.
